We help our clients navigate and manage the risk of doing business in Africa by closely monitoring and analyzing political, economic, security and social developments across the continent and forecasting the impact of these developments on a client’s bottom-line.

About the Job
B&M Consulting is currently seeking Interns for our Industry & Regional/Geographic Clusters, which cover specific (or any combination of) African cities, states, countries, regions and business sectors of interest to our clients. The regions covered include East, West, Central, North and Southern Africa. The industries include Banking & Financial Services, Precious Metals (Gold, Platinum Group Metals and Silver), Energy (Oil, Gas and Coal), Minerals & Other Metals, Telecommunications, Diamonds, and Agribusiness.

Duties

• Assist with the research, monitoring, analysis and forecasting of political, economic, social and security risk developments in specific (or any combination of) industries and regions of critical importance to our clients’ business and investments in Africa.

 Requirements

• Excellent research and writing ability.   
• Some knowledge of African history, politics and/or business.
• Above average facility with MS PowerPoint, MS Excel and MS Word.
• Be currently enrolled in a 4-year university pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Political Science, African Studies, Economics, History, Intl. Affairs or other social science.

Preferred Experience (Not Required)

• Some knowledge of industries covered by the B&M Clusters (i.e. Banking & Finance, Precious Metals, Energy, Mining, Telecommunications, Diamonds and Agribusiness).
• Work, living and travel experience in Africa.
• Basic knowledge of statistics and statistical tools (i.e. Stata).

Schedule/Duration
15-20 hours/week. Flexible. Spring 2010, Summer 2010 & Fall 2010.
